As Rwanda prepared to celebrate the Christmas season and the New Year, First Lady Jeannette Kagame hosted more than 200 children from different parts of the country for a special end-of-year gathering marked by joy, play, and shared celebration.
The event took place on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Village Urugwiro, just days before Christmas and New Year festivities. The children spent time with the First Lady through various games and creative activities, during which they also showcased their talents. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and happiness, reflecting the spirit of the season.
Through a message shared on X, Mrs. Kagame noted that the children received different gifts and that the joy and enthusiasm among them were clearly visible.
The gathering provided an opportunity for the children to experience warmth, care, and celebration during a time traditionally associated with love, generosity, and togetherness.
The Christmas season holds deep meaning for many families, as it commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and emphasizes values such as compassion, sharing, and hope.
In this context, moments that bring children together to celebrate, play, and feel valued resonate strongly with the message of Christmas, extending love and kindness, especially to the young.
This annual end-of-year initiative by the First Lady has become a cherished tradition, reflecting a consistent commitment to children’s well-being and happiness.
The 2025 celebration was attended by the Minister of Family and Gender Promotion, Consolée Uwimana, as well as the Director General of the National Child Development Agency (NCDA), Assumpta Ingabire.
As the nation approaches Christmas and the New Year, such gatherings highlight the importance of unity, generosity, and joy, values at the heart of the festive season and central to nurturing a hopeful future for children.
