Israel Mbonyi made history in a concert he has done in Kampala City, Uganda, where he took the opportunity to honor Judith Babirye who became famous in the song ’Yesu Beera Nange’.

It was the artist’s first concert in the country, which took place at the Lugogo Cricket Oval, which usually accommodates more than 15,000 people. It was on August, 23, 2024.
He took great care to sing his popular songs in the Rwandan language, as well as those he composed in the Swahili language. Israel Mbonyi sang songs like ’Ibihe’, ’Nina Siri’, ’Tugumane’, ’Hari Ubuzima’, and more others.

Ugandan newspapers say that in the middle of the concert, the artist took the opportunity to sing the song ’Yesu Beera Nange’ by Judith Babirye in order to honor her as an artist with a great history in ’Gospel’ music in the East African region.

Judith is one of the artists who created works that made Uganda famous at international exhibitions. Currently, she is an evangelist in the church "New Life Deliverance Church", a church located in the South East of Kampala City in Uganda.

Between 2016-2021 she was a Member of Parliament representing Buikwe Province. The woman holds a Master’s Degree in Arts and Tourism from Makerere University.

It was in 2006 that she made a song that changed the history of her life called ’Yesu Beera Nange’ which was played for a long time on the media in the country, in the countries of the East African Region and elsewhere.

But she also released songs such as "Wambatira", "Omusaayi gwa Yesu", "Ekitbwa kyo Mukama", "Maama" and others.

She has four albums including ’Beera Nange’ released in 2006, in 2007 she released the album ’Yesu Asobola’, in 2008 she released the album ’Nzijukira’ and in 2011 she released the album ’Wanjagala’.

Israel Mbonyi sang along with Ugandans and other participants in the concert. Based on the meaning of his name (Mbonyicyambu, Icyambu = Port, Mbonyicyambu = I found a port), he agreed that God made him a port.

In a message on X, Israel Mbonyi expressed that he was touched by the love shown in this unprecedented concert and memorial for him.
