Pastor Christian Gisanura has continued his teaching series titled “Knowing Who You Are,” and in this session, he focused on a sub-theme he called “Focusing on What Truly Matters.”
In this teaching delivered on February 4, 2026, as part of his February messages, Pastor Gisanura emphasized the importance of understanding one’s identity while maintaining focus on life’s essentials.
He explained that today’s world is full of distractions—fast-paced routines, overwhelming responsibilities, and constant temptations—that often cause people to lose direction, regress in life, and especially weaken spiritually.
Pastor Gisanura reminded believers that every person carries a form of “capital” within them—resources entrusted by God—which must be used wisely in order to fulfill their divine purpose.
He identified five key investments that every person continually makes in life: time, knowledge, energy, relationships, and money. While money may not always be readily available, the other four are always present.
The difference between people, he noted, is not what they possess, but how they invest what they have, because investment determines results.
He urged believers to clearly identify what truly matters and intentionally direct their time toward it, apply wisdom in decision-making, choose relationships that build them spiritually and socially, use physical strength in alignment with their calling rather than imitation, and manage finances purposefully.
Pastor Gisanura also emphasized responsibility toward the communities we live in, stating that no one is placed in a location by accident; wherever a person lives, they are meant to make a positive impact.
To illustrate his message, he referenced 2 Kings 2:9–14, highlighting the relationship between Elijah and Elisha. Before being taken up to heaven, Elijah asked Elisha what he desired. Elisha boldly requested a double portion of Elijah’s spirit.
Though the request was difficult, Elijah told him it would be granted if Elisha remained focused until the very end.
As Elijah was taken up in a whirlwind with chariots of fire, Elisha remained attentive, witnessed the moment, and received the mantle. He then demonstrated that the power of God was upon him by parting the Jordan River, just as Elijah had done.
Pastor Gisanura used this story to teach the power of single-minded focus. Elisha could have asked for many things, but he chose one essential request and refused to be distracted until it was fulfilled. This, he explained, is a lesson in staying faithful to one’s core calling and refusing to dilute what matters most.
“Everyone must have one primary focus,” he said. “If you are a doctor, commit fully to medicine. Whatever your calling is, invest your whole heart in it. Direct your time, wisdom, energy, relationships, and finances toward that one purpose.”
He added a sixth, essential element—spiritual life—stating that none of the others can be effective without prayer and a strong personal relationship with God.
He emphasized that most discoveries and achievements originate from divine revelation, and that walking closely with God helps individuals understand why they were created and how to invest everything they have into that purpose.
In conclusion, Pastor Christian Gisanura encouraged Christians to seek relationships that sharpen and elevate them—especially mentors who are more experienced and knowledgeable. He stressed that living this way enables a person to fulfill their calling, become a blessing to others, and deepen their relationship with God.
These teachings continue to challenge believers to reflect on their lives, consider the legacy they will leave behind, and choose to focus on what truly matters—things that positively impact their lives, others, and the broader community.
