On February 7, 2026, Pastor Christian Gisanura continued his February teaching series aimed at helping Christians understand and embrace their true identity. The series is built around the main theme “Knowing Who You Are,” and the day’s teaching focused on a powerful subtheme: “You Are a Spirit.”
Pastor Gisanura reminded believers that a human being is not merely a physical body, but a spirit created in the image of God. He explained that the word spirit is closely connected to the mind and thoughts, emphasizing that a person who carries God also carries God’s way of thinking. This divine mindset enables believers to discern the times they are living in, make wise decisions, and overcome battles that take place in the mind.
Quoting Proverbs 23:7, which says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he,” Pastor Gisanura stressed that a person’s true nature is revealed through their thoughts. He pointed out that the clearest difference between a believer and a non-believer is found in their mindset.
He also referenced Jesus’ words that “the truth will set you free” (John 8), explaining that this truth is spiritual and enters a person’s mind, transforming how they approach and solve life’s challenges. According to Pastor Gisanura, the wisdom of God enables believers to resolve issues through love and peace, make decisions without regret, and ultimately bring glory to God.
During the teaching, he challenged Christians who attempt to live halfway between the world and God, describing such a life as being spiritually divided. He emphasized that whatever a person feeds on is what gains dominance: feeding on God’s Word strengthens the spiritual nature, while feeding on worldly thinking suppresses the life of God within.
He urged believers to read and apply the Word of God, noting that obedience to Scripture allows the Spirit of God to bring true freedom and empowers Christians to say no to worldly temptations, even when they appear attractive or profitable.
Pastor Gisanura noted that the world is currently facing an intense battle of the mind, one that no one can escape because everyone lives within it.
He taught that believers must choose to control negative thoughts rather than be controlled by them. He reminded the church that a believer is both the image and an ambassador of God, and that their daily decisions reflect God’s glory on earth.
Referring to Hebrews 1:7, he explained that God makes His angels spirits and His servants flames of fire, illustrating that believers too carry a spiritual fire of God that operates through their minds and thoughts. He cautioned Christians against allowing emotions to overpower wisdom, adding that when Satan encounters God within a person’s thoughts, he is forced to flee.
Using the biblical example of David and Goliath, Pastor Gisanura showed how David’s love for God gave him the wisdom to choose the right weapon, refusing to wear Saul’s armor. This, he said, demonstrates how God’s wisdom guides believers to make the right decisions even in the most difficult situations.
Sharing a personal testimony, Pastor Gisanura recounted how he prayed over a car that had refused to open. After placing his hand on it and praying, the car immediately unlocked. Through this testimony, he emphasized that every believer carries God’s power in their hands and thoughts, as long as they believe and trust in it.
He concluded by reminding Christians that being a believer is not just about attending church services, but about walking with God daily. He emphasized that every believer carries God’s power and riches within them, and that the only thing they should truly fear is sin, because it defiles the Spirit of God living inside them.
The core message of the day was clear and powerful: Know that you are a spirit, recognize the value of what is within you, and allow the Spirit of God to rule over your life. Only then will the gifts within you rise and lead you to the purpose God has prepared for you.
