Pastor Christian Gisanura reminded believers to thank God and trust in Him even in difficult times, and he also addressed the reasons why everyone finds themselves in trouble.
He based his words on Habakkuk 3:17–19: “Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines; the olive tree is threshed in vain, and the fields produce no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold and the herds are cut off from the stalls; Yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.
The Lord, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer; He makes me walk on my high places. For the chief Musician on the harp.”
In a sermon based on the Holy Scripture of Habakkuk 3:17–19, Pastor Christian Gisanura gave a powerful message to encourage believers to continue to trust and thank God even when life is not going well.
The sermon was delivered at the beginning of 2026, on January 27, in a spirit of looking back and thanking God for what He has done for us in the year 2025.
Pastor Gisanura explained that sometimes things get tough in life, but that it is not a sign that God has abandoned His people.
He pointed out that life can be difficult for various reasons, including the effects of what parents or ancestors have done, personal choices, spiritual battles, and even trials that God may put a person through to prepare them for a great work.
He gave the example of Solomon. Solomon was about to be punished, but God did not punish him for what he had done to his father David. However, the punishment fell on his son Rehoboam, and his kingdom was divided between him and Jeroboam. Solomon’s sin affected his son’s reign, showing that sometimes one can reap what one has not sown.
He added that our daily choices, how we spend our time, money, who we associate with, what we study, have a profound impact on our present and future lives.
Regarding prayer, Pastor Gisanura explained that prayer is not a way to get money quickly, but a weapon to fight spiritual battles, build a relationship with God and be strong in faith. He emphasized that work and practical works are what make one earn money, while God’s miracles happen but are not permanent.
He urged believers to learn to distinguish the source of the problems they face: whether they are family, personal choices, enemy attacks or God’s plan to guide them through the process of refining them like a steel mill.
Pastor Christian Gisanura concluded with a message of gratitude to God at all times, urging believers to thank Him morning, noon and night, showing their faith in Him even when things seem hopeless. He demonstrated that a grateful heart can touch the heart of God where worries and lamentations cannot.
In the month of January 2026, this message became a powerful call to begin the new year in a spirit of worship, thanksgiving and faith in God, as taught in the book of Habakkuk, where even if the fields are barren and yield little, the believer chooses to rejoice in the Lord and trust in His salvation.
