Worshiping God Is Not a Religion but a Command — Pastor Christian Gisanura

Pastor Christian Gisanura has reminded Christians that worshiping God is not merely a religious ritual, but a deep fellowship with the Holy Spirit.

On January 30, 2026, Pastor Gisanura delivered a powerful teaching emphasizing the importance of praising and worshiping God in spirit and in truth, drawing from John 4:23–24. In this scripture, Jesus teaches that God seeks those who worship Him in spirit and in truth, rather than through religious rituals.

In his message, Pastor Gisanura explained that worship is not something confined to church services alone, but a daily lifestyle reflected in one’s conduct, thoughts, and decisions, all guided by the Holy Spirit.

He noted that many prayers go unanswered because people pray ritualistically rather than spiritually. While religious rituals are often tied to specific places, true worship, he explained, takes place in the heart and can happen anywhere.

Referring to Jesus’ words, “God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth,” Pastor Gisanura reminded believers that God looks at the heart, not outward appearances.

He said, “Outward behavior should reflect what is in the heart, because some people appear righteous on the outside while their hearts are filled with hypocrisy and evil.” According to him, worshiping in spirit begins in the heart and is expressed through one’s lifestyle, behavior, and daily choices.

On worshiping in truth, Pastor Gisanura emphasized that the truth is Jesus Christ, citing the biblical declaration, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” He reminded Christians that no one comes to the Father except through Jesus, meaning true worship requires Christ to dwell within a person and guide their faith and actions. He stressed that spirit and truth cannot be separated, as there is no place for a spirit of falsehood, nor truth without the Spirit.

As he concluded his teaching, Pastor Christian Gisanura delivered a strong message about choosing whom to worship, referencing the temptation of Jesus when Satan asked Him to worship him.

He warned that anyone who does not worship God ends up worshiping Satan in one way or another. Although Satan may offer temporary rewards, he said, the ultimate outcome is destruction. In contrast, God offers eternal life, while life on earth is only temporary.

He concluded by saying, “Let your life be one of worship to God, and you will live forever.” His teachings encouraged Christians to change their mindset—moving away from ritualistic worship and embracing a lifestyle of worshiping God in spirit and in truth every day of their lives.

John 4:23 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

John 4: 24 "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."
