1 Samuel 17:50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.
I am happy to learn how David fought with the sling and prevailed over Goliath, the Philistine experienced in battles who had uncountable weapons.
Here are some of my takeaway lessons:
1. In all battles, the believer has a backup. The battle is God’s, it is not ours. As it happened to David during his battle, you also have God by your side.
2. God help us to win battles using what we have. As he stood to fight for people of God, Saul wanted him to put on his garment and armors that he was using but David refused them. He fought with a simple sling and 5 stones.
3. God has placed all kinds of weapons you need for the battle you are fighting. You don’t need to use someone’s armure. Use yours, just what you have and they are enough.
4. Avoid measuring your weapon’s power on your enemies weapons. If he/she stood up with insults as Goliath did, don’t respond to them with insults, stand up with humility and faith.
5. Those who fight for God are led by God. They don’t lead themselves.
6. Late or soon, anyone who fight in truth will conquer the battle. The LORD will never desert his people or abandon those who belong to him.
Have a good day!
