Kigali – From August 8 to 10, 2025, Amahoro Stadium hosted, for the first time in Rwanda’s history, the International Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention under the theme “Pure Worship.”
The three-day event brought together over 43,000 attendees, including about 4,000 international delegates from 20 countries across the Americas, Europe, and Africa, with representatives from Brazil, Burundi, and elsewhere.
The program was presented in four languages—Kinyarwanda, English, French, and Rwandan Sign Language—and featured Bible-based discourses, video series, and dramatizations depicting the life of Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of prophecies about him.
On the first day, videos highlighted what life was like in the regions where Jesus lived and preached; on the second day, sessions examined how his early ministry fulfilled ancient prophecies; and on the final day, a public discourse titled “Do You Know the God You Worship?” explained why faith matters and how to find truth.
Highlights of the convention included the baptism of 925 individuals in a single day, and a special talk delivered by a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. François Regis Migambi, spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Rwanda, stated:
“In a world full of problems, serving God in the way he approves is an essential tool that can help us face life’s challenges with the hope of a better future. Many people have a deep desire to worship God the way he approves and to build strong faith. This convention will show how doing so can help in our daily lives and give us real hope for tomorrow.”
More than 3,000 visiting delegates are expected to take part in tours across Kigali and other tourist destinations throughout the country. In addition to instruction and singing, the event provided opportunities for cultural exchange and strengthened bonds of international friendship.
More than 43,000 people’s presence at the convention in Kigali was a significant gesture, showing support for initiatives that promote peace, unity, and cooperation among Rwandans and the global community.
