Understand the Heritage of the Family You Belong To – Pastor Christian Gisanura

In his teachings shared on his YouTube channel bearing his name, Christian Gisanura emphasizes the value of belonging to a family—especially a spiritual family—describing it as a profound inheritance.

On February 14, 2026, while teaching, he explained that being part of a spiritual family is not an ordinary privilege, but a great blessing connected to an inheritance one receives and is also called to pass on to others.

Pastor Gisanura teaches that there are two types of families: the physical family and the spiritual family. While the physical family is important in daily life, the spiritual family carries eternal value because it represents an everlasting inheritance.

Understanding this inheritance enables a person to protect it, preserve it, and take responsibility for it. This inheritance does not affect an individual alone; it also extends to their children and those around them.

He reminds believers that everyone, even at a young age, carries an inheritance they will leave behind. He gave the example of Jesus Christ, who began His ministry at the age of 30 yet left a powerful legacy that transformed the world.

Therefore, age does not determine the weight of one’s inheritance; rather, it is determined by the life one lives and what one leaves behind for others.

In explaining human nature, Pastor Gisanura points out that where a person grows up and the environment they are raised in shape their behavior and mindset.

For example, someone raised in Democratic Republic of the Congo may differ from someone raised in Rwanda due to cultural influences. However, above all these factors, a person’s true character must be led by the Spirit of God.

Referring to Galatians 5:16–22, he stresses that being led by the Spirit is the only way to overcome the works of the flesh. When the flesh is not controlled, it leads to sexual immorality, jealousy, anger, division, and other sins that prevent a person from inheriting the Kingdom of God.

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and righteousness. Gisanura affirms that even if someone knows the Bible extensively, without these fruits they will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Having the Spirit of God within you enables you to surrender to His guidance, turn away from wrongdoing, and produce good fruit. He encourages Christians to pray for the Holy Spirit to help them overcome their flesh and live a renewed life.

Regarding the inheritance within God’s family, he explains that the first inheritance is acceptance. No child desires rejection from their parents, yet God accepts those who believe in Him and calls them members of His household.

He references Ephesians 2:19, which states that we are members of God’s household. This gives us both rights and responsibilities as children in that house. When a person understands that they belong to God’s household, it reflects in their lifestyle, dress, conduct, and daily behavior.

He reminds believers that many people face challenges but forget to run to their true home—God. When they seek refuge in Him, problems do not rob them of peace because they remain under His protection. Just as parents stay awake all night caring for a sick child, God is deeply concerned for His children.

In concluding his message, Pastor Gisanura explains that a good inheritance is one built through partnership with God. The Apostle Paul said that he had died to the flesh but was alive in Christ Jesus. This represents living a new life—not driven by sinful desires, but guided by the Spirit.

These teachings call everyone to self-examination: Do you truly believe that you belong to God’s family? Do you recognize that this family is entrusted to you and that you have an inheritance to protect and pass on?

Being a member of God’s household is not merely a title; it is a responsibility to live in a way that reflects the fruit of the Spirit and to leave behind a legacy that the world will remember.
